Coffee arrived to Puerto Rico in 1736 and it was a revelation. Nature had endowed the island with altitude, soil, climate and gentle hands for growing great coffee. In the 19th century coffee became the first agricultural product of Puerto Rico. By the end of the century, this small island was the sixth largest exporter of coffee in the world.

Although over the past 20 years local coffee production has been decreasing, new initiatives are being established by the private sector to develop new technologies and to increase production. The Island remains the best place to grow and harvest coffee. The 33,000 acres of land devoted to this crop and 4,400 coffee farmers (U.S.D.A. Census 2012) are proof of this.

Puerto Rico Coffee Roasters, LLC (PRCR) was created in June of 2008 to position and develop the most productive and efficient manufacturing and distribution coffee company on the Island. Following the highest quality, service and excellence standards, PRCR produces 11 recognized coffee brands. Each one preserves its prestige, its flavor and original aroma, exceeding expectations of customers and suppliers.

PRCR’s facilities are located across the Island. Coffee farms located in a northern town of Vega Baja, in the rainforest weather of Maricao, and in the Island’s highest mountain range in Jayuya. The processing plant is set in the southern city of Ponce, and the “beneficiado” or coffee-milling process is done in Lares, the central region of Puerto Rico.  Our distribution extends through the entire Island and the Virgin Islands, as well as the US and Central Europe through our partners and other clients.

We invite you to visit our store and taste our diverse coffee profiles.  From iconic brands to world-renowned specialty coffees, you’ll certainly find your perfect cup farmed, milled, and roasted uniquely for you.  You can also join our Mailing List to stay up to date with all our news and promotions from our farms to our Caffe Bars.  Enjoy!
